For This We Give Thanks!

Howdy, folks. It has been quite awhile since our last blog post and even longer then a post that i've authored so here we go! Fall has been quite a busy time for the Wilson household up here. Our kitchen renovations came in very useful when our beloved family came to visit!

To be succinct, a lot of food was eaten, a lot of laughs were laughed and a lot of fun was had. Let me elaborate though.

Our first thanksgiving dinner was on the Sunday prior. Mom, Dad, Cat, Nat and myself spent the entire day slaving over a hot stove to making a delicious dinner that was consumed in around 15 minutes!

So a couple of days later the rest of the family showed up and from then on easy and quick meals were the rule!

Nothing like Nat's crab deviled eggs or Hibachi. We may do finger-food Thanksgivings from now on!

So after the feasts Ooodles of fun were had with traditional Wilson family activities. Puzzles and games!

A new activity this year for us was Geo-caching  Not for Nat or I but for our cousins! We all had a great time espically Mary Clair who you can see to the right hoisting up her prize! While Nat was at Work we tried to find some more but weren't quite as successful.

Alas the folks had to head out eventually and once they did winter moved in fast behind them. Nat and I didn't even realize it had snowed until we took out the dogs for their morning walk and saw this!
Sugar after walking down the steeps immediately made a 180 and headed back for the porch! We had to force her to a least spend a little time outside.
Of course it had to snow on the day we planned to put up our Christmas lights but I guess God just wanted to get us in the Christmas spirit sooner!

Don't let the pictures fool you. Nat helped too. She held the camera ;) And put up a lot of stuff.

Once the lights were up though we had to get a tree. After coming home and setting the tree in the stand though we discovered that it had a spiral crack in it half-way up the tree! Nat and I were concerned but after a little internet research we found out that this is a common problem with Frasier Fir and that with adequate watering our tree will have as rich and full a life.  One thing is for certain though, the pets sure took to it fast.

So if that wasn't enough Christmas we also went to a Peddler's Village. A little shop/town that was having their Christmas festival. We got to see their gingerbread house competition and their beautiful light display.

You can be sure we'll keep everyone posted on Christmas in frozen north! Y'all come back now yah hear!

What's New

Hi all!  Here's an update about what's new around (and in) our house.

This is my first crochet project of the season.  It's a baby blanket--and NO not for me, but for a friend. :)

Here's a few fall/geocaching pics from a week or two ago.  The leaves are just about gone now-or at least mostly all brown.

Apparently I was really excited about this tree.  Or something.

This is at an outlook point we found.  We really enjoyed the area, and plan on placing our first geocache(s) along the trails here.

Sugar and Rosie came along for the hike, too.  Rosie stayed in the car, and Sugar should have stayed as well, because it didn't take her long to get tired and quit.  So the majority of the hike, she was my jacket-companion.  Who needs a baby when I have the dogs? :)

TODAY, we took a little roadtrip to an apple orchard.  We went here last year, and really enjoy this particular orchard.  We picked raspberries and apples, and spent the afternoon geocaching along a nearby trail.  To make the evening even better, we were able to eat dinner at Chic-Fil-A.  We were especially excited about this part of the day! :)  The nearest Chic-Fil-A is well over an hour away from where we live.

Geocaching...

This was a creative container:

This was the trail we were geocaching on.  Absolutely beautiful!

Thomas even made a new friend...

...but it wasn't real.

Okay, now for house updates.

This was the enormous mum we got a month or so ago:

And here it is today, in it's full glory.
Man I love this thing.  I just hope I can get it to come back next year.

Now for the grand finale.  Our kitchen is officially renovated!  I am so excited to finally take a break from dealing with updating the house.  Here are the befores and afters.

Well that's enough pictures for one night.  Hope everyone is doing well.  We are getting ready for the "Franken-storm" that's coming our way!  Last year it snowed on Halloween, we'll see what crazy weather we get this Halloween.

Keep In Touch!
